What Ask Studio does
Google calls Ask Studio an AI creative partner inside YouTube Studio. It does three jobs. It sums up the comments and feedback on your videos. It explains your channel stats. It helps you plan ideas and outlines for your next video. You reach it from the top corner of YouTube Studio.
What Google says it will not do
One line in YouTube's help page decides whether Ask Studio fits your job.
"Ask Studio works with your YouTube Studio channel and only uses data from your channel and audience. Other creators can't ask questions about your channel through Ask Studio."
Learn about Ask Studio in YouTube Studio — YouTube Help
Ask Studio reads your channel. It does not read anyone else's. If your question is about your own comments, Ask Studio answers it. If your question is about what a rival covered last year, Ask Studio cannot help.
Other limits Google documents
- Ask Studio runs only on a web browser on your computer
- Official Artist Channels cannot use it
- Made for Kids channels cannot use it
- Creators under 18 cannot use it
- Google warns that quality and accuracy of responses may vary
Where Ask Studio wins
Ask Studio sees your private stats. Taffy cannot. Watch time and click rate and impressions live in your Studio account and stay there.
So if your question is about how a video performed, use Ask Studio. It has data Taffy will never hold. It is also free and needs no setup.
Where Taffy is different
Taffy reads the public transcripts and comments on a channel. It indexes them. You ask a question and get an answer that cites the exact episode and time.
Taffy indexes your channel plus three rivals. That is the gap Google's own note describes. Taffy also installs into the tools you already use. The skill pack works in Claude and Cursor. The same pack works in ChatGPT and Gemini.

Which one should you use
Use Ask Studio for your own numbers and your own comments. It is free and it is native and it is good at that job.
Use Taffy when the answer sits in a rival channel. Use it when you need a quote with a timestamp. Use it when you want your archive inside Claude or Cursor.
Many creators run both. They answer different questions.
