Common questions about MCP integration
MCP is an open protocol that enables AI applications to securely access external data sources and tools. It allows your AI assistant to use Taffy's YouTube analysis capabilities directly in conversations.
Taffy's MCP server works with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, ChatGPT Desktop, and any other MCP-compatible client. Setup instructions are provided for each supported platform.
Basic configuration is required, but our setup guide includes step-by-step instructions for each client. Most users can complete setup in under 10 minutes with copy-paste configuration.
MCP tools use the same credit system as our API: 1 credit for transcripts, 2 for video analysis, 3 for comments, and 5 for comment insights. Your AI assistant automatically manages credit usage when calling tools.
MCP requires an internet connection to access Taffy's servers. We currently support public YouTube content only. For private video analysis or enterprise needs, contact our team for custom solutions.
Yes. Your API key is stored locally in your MCP configuration and only transmitted securely to Taffy's servers. We never store or log your API key on our servers beyond authentication.
